And Nobody Came?
The NFL spent hundreds of thousands of dollars developing a special website for Super Bowl 43. There was special flash animation and the graphics were unbelievable.
The problem was that the site did not get indexed for the search engines. When someone went to Google and typed in “Super Bowl,” the NFL’s site was nowhere near the top 10. And, as you know from your own experience searching online, if you aren’t on Google’s first page, you might as well not exist.
The NFL spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a beautiful website and nobody came and visited them.
Are you experiencing the same kind of results with your own website? Do you have a beautiful website that nobody visits?
I’d like to share with you how you can turn your website into a lead generating, sales making, profit machine.
The first thing you need to do is get visitors to your site. Just like a bricks and mortar business (like yours) needs foot traffic, a website needs internet traffic.
There are several different ways to get traffic:
- Pay Per Click – Generate visitors to your site within minutes using Google’s Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing or other PPC services
- Search Engine Optimization – Design your site so that Google and the other search engines can find you and list you high in their rankings
- Build Inbound Links – Get links on sites where your customers “hang out” online.
- Offline media – From your company’s letterhead to Super Bowl ads, using non-web based media to increase your web site’s exposure.
Now, once you get the traffic, you have to make your site turn those visitors into customers. This is where the power of the internet truly comes into play. Because, once you get people to your site, you can pre-sell them on your services.
By having detailed explanations of your products, services, credentials, and even testimonials, you can set yourself apart from your competition. Not only do you show your customers that they need a widget, you convince them that they need it from you.
In traditional media, you have a limited amount of space or time to get your message across. With the internet, you can build all of the pages you need to pre-sell your customer before they ever contact you.
Further, before they leave your site, you have a chance to find out a little bit about your visitors. In particular, you can give them a “freebie” to capture their name and email.
This is where the internet is so powerful. Once you have their email address, you can contact them with monthly newsletters as well as special offers and updates. Any time business is a little slow, you can send out an email to your list and get instant business.
In the “good old days” when the Yellow Pages would bring in customers, you only had to worry about your marketing strategy once a year. But those days are gone, and they’re not coming back as Super Bowl halftime show headliner Bruce Springsteen would say.
Do you even know where your phone book is? Neither do your customers. Now, they look online to find the services they need.
The Good News – The internet is much more powerful than the yellow pages could ever hope to be.
The Bad News – You must stay on top of your internet presence.
The Good News – You can get Inland Web Services to manage your internet presence, including all of the bells and whistles, for less than your yellow pages ad cost each month.
These days, there are many people who can build you a web site. You can have your neighbor’s teen age son put together a nice site. Or you can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just like the NFL did.
But, my question to you is: what happens if nobody comes?
